Paris Saint-Germain’s draw against OGC Nice (1-1) on Sunday night means that AS Monaco head into the international break as the outright leader in Ligue 1. PSG, who have drawn twice this season, are two points behind the Principality club, who have 19 points.
Against Nice, Luis Enrique was displeased with the first-half performance, stating that “[he] could have taken off five players at half-time.” Ultimately, he only took off Randal Kolo Muani as Les Parisiens fought back in the second half to salvage the draw.
It came at the end of a difficult week for PSG, who were also well beaten by Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. Despite that defeat and their table standing, Luis Enrique has nonetheless positively appraised their start to the campaign.
“You give scores at the end of the season but the start of our season has been very promising,” said Luis Enrique in a post-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News.
He added, “I like what I’m seeing. I think the start to the season has been better than the last. We just need the most important thing: to win Ligue 1 and be competitive in the other competitions.”
