Sunderland near loan agreement for Lens’ Salis Abdul Samed

According to a report by L’Équipe, Sunderland AFC are nearing an agreement with RC Lens to sign Salis Abdul Samed (24) on loan. The midfielder would be joining the English club for the season without an option to purchase.

Abdul Samed had been in the shop window for Lens this summer with multiple French clubs interested in making a deal for the Ghanaian international who has been placed in the “loft” by the new manager Will Still.

FC Nantes, Stade Brestois, and AS Saint-Étienne had all been linked with a move for the out-of-favour midfielder. However, instead, it appears as if the midfielder will likely be leaving France for England.

Sunderland’s talks with Lens progressing

L’Équipe notes that a full agreement has not yet been reached for the midfielder, but negotiations are progressing well for a midfielder who played 39 times across all competitions last season, including during the club’s foray into the Champions League and the Europa League.
