Official | Etienne Green leaves Saint-Étienne for Burnley

Burnley have officially announced that they have signed Etienne Green (24) from AS Saint-Étienne for an undisclosed fee. However, L’Équipe have previously reported that Saint-Étienne may have been willing to release the player from the final year of his contract for a future sell-on fee.

Green had been a player at Les Verts since he joined the club at the age of nine. The English-born goalkeeper had developed in the academy system and even gained some game time making 37 appearances across all competitions for the club he was named after. However, Green has struggled to become the first choice and has largely been used as an understudy.

Green had a brief period in the middle of the last season where he became the first choice for Saint-Étienne following an injury to Gautier Larsonneur (27). However, he was unable to hold down the position as his own, and Larsonneur soon returned to help create the best defence in Ligue 2.
