Following FC Girondins de Bordeaux’s bankruptcy, all players from the first team and academy are set to be available for free. One of the club’s biggest prospects, Mathys Angely (17) is gathering interest from all around Europe but could remain in France, reveals L’Equipe.
One of France’s most historic clubs, Bordeaux has fallen. Les Maritimes have abandoned their professional status acquired in 1937 following their massive debts and FSG’s failed takeover. While the club is now waiting to know in which division their will play next season, the players are starting to consider proposals as they are set to be released from their contract. Bordeaux’s head coach Albert Riera has already resigned in order to come back to Slovenian outfit RK Celje, and star players such as Pedro Diaz are also close to returning to Spain. One of Bordeaux’s most sought-after players, Angely attracted interest from Liverpool, according to Foot Mercato, but the Reds could face fierce competition to convince the France U17 international to leave his native country.
According to L’Equipe, multiple Ligue 1 sides are targeting Angely, including FC Nantes, RC Lens, Stade de Reims, AS Saint-Etienne, and Montpellier. While the France U17 international also has lots of suitors queueing up around Europe, he would reportedly be keen on staying in Ligue 1 in order to complete his scholarship, adds the French outfit.
