Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt more injury blows as a couple of key players will be unavailable this weekend. Gianluigi Donnarumma (25) and Marco Asensio (28) have been ruled out for the league leaders, who will seek to maintain their 100% record in Ligue 1 on Saturday against Stade de Reims at the Stade Auguste-Delaune.
On Friday, the club released a statement stating that Asensio had suffered a muscle contracture in his right thigh and will therefore be rested next week. The Spaniard was injured in PSG’s UEFA opening Champions League fixture against Girona on Wednesday and was replaced by Randal Kolo Muani late in the opening half. As for Donnarumma, who is dealing with a thigh injury, the club says that he “is continuing his recovery”.
PSG’s first-choice goalkeeper has played every minute for them between the sticks in the league this season. Matvey Safonov, who collected a clean sheet in their 1-0 victory over Girona in midweek, will likely get the start on Saturday.
This adds to the growing list of absentees for Luis Enrique’s men, with Les Parisiens already missing Lucas Hernandez (ACL), Goncalo Ramos (ankle) and Presnel Kimpembe (muscle).
