Yvann Maçon (25) returned from his loan spell at Maccabi Tel Aviv to play a key role in AS Saint-Étienne’s promotion to Ligue 1. According to a report from Foot Mercato, he wishes to remain at Les Verts next season, amid interest from other clubs.
Maçon returned to ASSE in January and went on to play a key role in the club’s promotion from Ligue 2. The right-back, who is also capable of filling in at left-back, played in 18 of Saint-Étienne’s final 19 games in Ligue 2 as the club returned to France’s top-flight via a tightly-contested relegation play-off against FC Metz.
His performances have caught the eyes of several Ligue 1 clubs, according to Foot Mercato. His versatility is seen as a particular asset by some clubs. However, Maçon himself wishes to remain with Les Verts for the upcoming season. However, he has just one year remaining on his current deal and is awaiting an extension offer.
