Tottenham forward Son Heung-min’s father fined for child abuse

AFP are reporting that the father and brother of Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min (32) have been fined for child abuse in South Korea.

Former footballer and father of South Korea international Son Heung-min, Woong-jung Son, and his brother, Heung-yun Son were sentenced for child abuse in South Korea on Friday and fined three million won, the equivalent of €2030. The pair were charged, along with another educator, of having insulted and hit young players in Woong-jun Son’s academy. As well as the fine issued, the trio will have to do 40 hours worth of anti-child abuse training. They have one week to appeal the decision taken in South Korea on Friday.

Woong-jung Son, who wrote a best-seller on how he helped train one of the Premier League’s best forwards, apologised to the court during the sentencing and insisted that the group of coaches at his academy have never acted in a way “that wasn’t founded on the love of the children.”
