AEK Athens have confirmed the arrival of former Manchester United, AS Monaco, and Olympique Lyonnais forward Anthony Martial (28).
Since leaving Manchester United, with whom he spent nine years, racking up 317 appearances (90 goals, 47 assists), Martial has been looking for a new club. Brazilian side Flamengo were cited as an interested party, as were Lille OSC, although Les Dogues’ president Olivier Létang was quick to shut down the link to the former Lyon and Monaco forward.
The closure of the transfer window does not pose a problem for the former France international, although with the date for the submission of UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League squad lists having passed, opportunities to join clubs competing in those competitions were limited.
AEK Athens have now confirmed the signing of the former France international. Whilst the Greek side have not confirmed the length of his contract, Foot Mercato have reported that he has signed a three-year deal.
