OGC Nice’s Daouda Traoré set for Southampton move

According to a report from L’Équipenewly-promoted Southampton are set to sign OGC Nice’s Daouda Traoré (18) on a permanent deal.

Le Gym’s academy product made his breakthrough into the first-team last season, featuring twice for the club, but accumulating just 28 minutes of playing time. The versatile, physical, and highly technical midfielder impressed in pre-season under new manager Franck Haise, especially against affiliate club Lausanne Sport.

However, he is yet to feature for Les Aiglons this season and he now looks on the verge of a definitive departure from his formative club. L’Équipe understands that Traoré is now set to join Southampton on a permanent deal. The contours of the deal, including the fee for the France youth international, have not yet been revealed.

It is thought that, once his move to the Premier League side is sealed, he will then once again depart on a loan deal for the rest of the season.
