Reims look to quickly appoint Le Havre’s Luka Elsner

Stade de Reims made significant progress in their attempts to appoint Le Havre AC’s Luka Elsner as their new coach on Wednesday, according to a report from L’Équipe

Whilst João Sacramento and Davide Ancelotti were both considered for the managerial role, vacated by Will Still, at Reims, Elsner, who on a limited budget kept Le Havre in Ligue 1, has emerged as the leading candidate. The Slovenian manager asked to be let go by Le Havre after it was confirmed that he would have limited means once again this summer, whilst it is understood that he was also informed that key members of the squad would also have to be sold in order to raise funds.

Elsner is therefore looking for a new challenge and according to L’Équipe, Reims have chosen him over a list of other candidates. The publication understands that a contractual agreement has even been reached between Les Stadistes and Elsner, with the latter already working on the outline of Reims’ squad for next season. Reims are now in negotiations with Le Havre in order to free the manager from the final year of his contract. A positive outcome is expected, and quickly.
