Edon Zhegrova’s reveals anger and dismisses ‘fake news’ after Kosovo exclusion

At the last international break, Edon Zhegrova (25) was sent home ahead of Kosovo’s trip to Cyprus where the Balkan nation won 4-0 sending them to second in their Nations League group.

The Kosovan federation announced at the time that the Lille OSC star alongside his national teammates Arjanet Muric and Florent Muslija had been excluded from the squad because they had broken “regulations.” In the Kosovan press, there were rumours that the three had been spotted at a nightclub.

However, Zhegrova has strongly rejected these reports as being “fake news” in a press conference held on Thursday the 26th of September. The Lille winger instead stated, “I was just late for a meeting. I don’t think it was the coach’s decision (Franco Foda) but the federation’s, I was a little angry.

Zhegrova further expressed his confusion over why the federation believed it should decide for the head coach whether he should be a part of the squad or not. However, he was willing to move past the incident, “When you’re late for a meeting, it’s up to the coach to make the decision [to punish you], not the federation. But it’s a page turned, it’s not important.

The winger will be hoping to help Lille end their unfortunate record of five games with a win across all competitions this weekend as Les Dogues take on Le Havre AC at the Stade Océane.
