Transfer Update: Younes Belhanda

Keep up to date with the Montpellier winger’s transfer saga here:

Sunday 30th June 2013:

Moroccan sources close to Eurosport and France Football journalist Nabil Djellit understand that Belhanda has chosen Dynamo Kiev.

The player has now been confirmed as a Dynamo Kiev player.

Saturday 29th June 2013:

Rumours are around that Arsenal have joined the race for the player, but at this stage, we can not confirm these reports.

It has also been suggested to us that the club Belhanda goes to will be announced in L’Equipe tomorrow, although this is once again totally unconfirmed.

If this is true, however, expect to see one of Aston Villa, Dynamo Kiev or Al Jazeera come us as Belhanda’s future club.

Friday 28th June 2013:

Belhanda confirmed his decision on his future would be soon and that he had the option to go to England if he wanted. We understand that this is more likely to be from Aston Villa, as we have no knowledge of a Newcastle approach for the player.

Belhanda said:

“My decision is imminent, I have still got the time to think a bit but I will stand by the decision I will take. I wanted to play in the Premier League, I have the opportunity so let’s see.”

Further update: It appears that Belhanda is holding out for other offers at the moment, as there is nothing acceptable from the Premier League  at the moment.

Thursday 27th June 2013:

It now emerges that Younes Belhanda has received concrete offers from both Dynamo Kiev and Al Jazeera. Any deal is yet to be completed.

Tuesday 25th June 2013:

According to Goal.com journalist Mohammed Ali: Montpellier and Al Jazeera agree €8m for Younes Belhanda, who is yet to agree terms with them. Between UAE and Dynamo Kiev. Belhanda yet to meet Dynamo Kiev – but MHSC have agreed with Al-Jazeera (the club), €8m fee – he should pick in the next few days.

Monday 24th June 2013:

Currently, Montpellier claim they ‘have not received any suitable offers from any clubs regarding the transfer of Belhanda.’

Younes Belhanda suggested why: ‘I have always said that my preference would be England, but if they can’t agree a price with my current club, I won’t go there. Nothing has been decided yet. My club wants €15m and not many teams can pay that.’

He continues to claim his dream is to play in England and Foot 365 have claimed that Belhanda is contractual negotiations with Aston Villa about a move and Montpellier are also discussing a fee for the player.

Rumours that Aston Villa have had a bid accepted for Belhanda are absolutely premature. Discussions are ongoing.

Tonight, Abu Dhabi Sports Channel understands that Belhanda’s main representative is currently in the country to negotiate with Al-Jazeera club. If this is true, the power has definitely shifted here. More as we get it.

Tuesday June 4th 2013:

Montpellier president Nicollin confirmed that the player would be leaving the club and mentioned that he had received offers from five different clubs:

“He is leaving. There are four or five clubs that have come in. It is now down to the player to choose now because we are almost in agreement with the clubs. He will leave for 14-15 million euros.”

Asked if the offers were concrete, he replied: “Yes. From AC Milan, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray and Aston Villa.

“We have no problem now, he has the authority to agree with whoever he wants now.”
