Venezia midfielder and USMNT international Tasser Tessmann (22) has officially signed for Lyon, both clubs have announced. Tessmann has put pen to paper over a five-year deal with Les Gones, tying him to the Ligue 1 club with a contract running until 2029. Lyon’s outlay to sign the 22-year-old midfielder rises to €6m. Venezia also included a 10 % sell-on fee clause on Tessmann’s transfer.
The Dallas FC youth product spent the last three seasons at Venezia FC where he played 99 games, logging nine goals and five assists with I Arancioneroverdi. Tessmann already played in France recently as he was the Olympic USMNT captain during the 2024 Paris Games. He is the first American player to play for Lyon. The 22-year-old midfielder will wear the #15 jersey with Pierre Sage’s Gones, who were in desperate need of midfield reinforcements. Lyon have lost their first two games of the Ligue 1 campaign.
