Last summer, Chelsea’s owners, BlueCo, bought Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg Alsace. There has since been plenty of transfer activity between the two clubs. Last season, Ângelo Gabriel and Andrey Santos both joined Les Alsaciens on loan. The latter, who only joined in January, has seen his loan extended.
He has since been joined by Caleb Wiley, a summer signing from the MLS that subsequently shipped straight out to France, whilst Diego Moreira, who spent part of last season on loan at Olympique Lyonnais, has joined RCSA on a permanent deal. Chelsea are still permitted to send one more player on loan to Strasbourg and they are now set to do so.
Since Matz Sels’ departure to Nottingham Forest last January, the situation regarding the No.1 jersey has been vague. With Djordje Petrovic (24) set to join RCSA, that situation now looks set to be clarified. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Serbian goalkeeper has agreed new terms with Chelsea before heading out on a season-long loan to Les Alsaciens. Petrovic is now expected to complete the move to Chelsea’s partner club imminently.
