RC Strasbourg Alsace are set to cancel the contract of former club captain Frédéric Guilbert (29) in order to facilitate his move to Italian side Leece, as per a report from L’Équipe.
Guilbert had been an integral part of the Strasbourg squad, evidenced by his appointment as captain. However, since BlueCo’s arrival just over a year ago, there has been a drastic change in strategy, with experience being overlooked. Within that context, Guilbert has seen his place within the squad reduced to a bit-part role. He is yet to play a part this season and was sat alongside another exiled experienced player in the form of Lucas Perrin, as RCSA beat Stade Rennais at the Meinau on Sunday.
He now looks set to depart on a permanent basis. Strasbourg are set to cancel his contract with the club, thus facilitating his move to Leece, where he is expected to undergo his medical on Monday. He will then sign a two-year deal, with an option for a third year, with the Serie A side.
