Lens’ Will Still looking to reunite with Reims’ Marshall Munetsi

Anglo-Belgian Lens head coach Will Still is keen to bring Reims midfielder Marshall Munetsi (28) to the Artois side, according to a report this Saturday from Le Parisien. The 28-year-old Zimbabwean defensive midfielder – one of Ligue 1’s very best – would therefore reunite with his former Reims manager. The outlet understands that Lens, despite having qualified for the Conference League playoff rounds, have planned austerity measures, which implies the departure of their most-coveted players, such as centre-forward Elye Wahi (21) and defensive midfielder Neil El Aynaoui (23).

The latter is reportedly close to joining Monaco, who have submitted a bid to Lens. To replace the departing Morocco U23 international, Lens head coach Will Still informed the club’s higher-ups he would like to reunite with Munetsi, with whom he reportedly maintains a relationship based on trust. The outlet understands that Reims have no intention to facilitate Munetsi’s departure to a potential Ligue 1 rival spearheaded by their former manager. Munetsi remains tied with the Luka Elsner-led team with a contract set to expire in 2027.
