Claude Makélélé didn’t even last a month at Asteras Tripolis. However, less than a week after leaving the Greek side, he could be set for a route back into management, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Prior to joining Asteras Tripolis, the former FC Nantes man had been out of management for five years. He left after a very short period due to disagreements with the club’s hierarchy, who for Makélélé’s own liking, wanted to be too involved in the sporting decisions.
Having arrived in mid-September, his departure was confirmed earlier this week. He is already in discussions regarding a return to management with EFL Championship side Cardiff City. The Welsh club have been without a manager since sacking Erol Bulut three weeks ago. After nine matchdays, Cardiff are currently bottom of the Championship with just five points.
Foot Mercato understands that Makélélé is in advanced discussions to take over Cardiff City and make a swift return to management.
