According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Kylian Mbappé (25) has informed Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his decision to leave the club at the end of the season.
Mbappé’s future is not decided, but the prolonged saga now looks to have an end in sight. The France captain was in exile last summer, banned from participating in PSG’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, Mbappé was consigned to training with the “undesirables”.
Whilst he was ultimately reintegrated into the first-team set-up, his future remained unresolved with just months remaining on his current deal. Despite reported “optimism” surrounding a potential renewal in December, reports emerged that Mbappé was set for a summer departure, with Le Parisien and Foot Mercato both revealing that the Frenchman has decided to join Real Madrid.
Mbappé yet to reach agreement with Real Madrid
However, as per an agreement between Mbappé and president Al-Khelaifi, which allowed the France captain to reintegrate after last summer’s exile, the former must inform the latter about his decision before any deal is signed and before any decision goes public.
That first step has now been taken. According to Hawkins, Mbappé has informed Al-Khelaifi of his decision to leave. This is a prerequisite for signing for another club on a free transfer at the end of the season. Whilst Real Madrid are the strong favourites to secure the France captain’s signature, nothing has yet been signed.
