Lille planning free transfer of Ethan Mbappé from PSG

Ethan Mbappé (17) confirmed yesterday that he would be doing his best to step out of the shadow of his more famous brother by not following in Kylian Mbappé’s (25) footsteps and leaving Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid this summer.

However, while this might be the case, his future in the French capital looks far from certain. The younger Mbappé had been in the process of negotiating his first professional contract with the club before his older brother announced to the club that he would be leaving at the end of the season.

This situation had a knock-on effect on Ethan Mbappé’s negotiations, stalling any progress that the club and the young player had made. This has led Lille OSC to begin testing the waters, as they look to convince the teenage midfielder of their project.

Ethan Mbappé could still have a Ligue 1 future

According to Foot Mercato, Lille hope to sign Mbappé on a free transfer at the end of his current contract in June, as they believe he has the potential to flourish in Ligue 1.
