As reported by Le Parisien and RMC, Ligue 1 side OGC Nice have elected to appoint Francesco Farioli has the club’s new manager following the decision to part ways with Didier Digard.
The 34-year-old Italian tactician is unattached following a recent experience with Turkish 1st division side Alanyaspor.
Farioli will bring 4 assistants with him to the South of France and will sign a 2-year contract.
The ambition on the part of the INEOS-owned club was to find a rather young coach, with attractive playing style principles to succeed Didier Digard. Farioli’s profile has been validated by the Nice board who hopes to finalise his arrival in time for a possible presentation at the beginning of next week.
Francesco Farioli remains an unknown coach in France, but he quickly convinced the board with his discourse. Spotted by Roberto De Zerbi, he went from goalkeeping coach at Sassuolo to head coach of Karagümrük in the Super Lig (Turkey) to earn a serious rating in the market in recent months.
In an interview for Onze Mondial in February, Farioli confided the following on his style: “Football is joy, sharing, being part of something bigger, as a team, community, culture.“ Karel Geraerts and Marcelo Gallardo are other names who had been considered by the Nice board, but it seems that the Sporting Director-CEO duo of Ghisolfi and Florent Bocquet has chosen to look elsewhere.
