Clermont consider Red Star assistant Sébastian Bichard as next manager

According to l’Équipe, Clermont Foot are considering Sébastian Bichard as their next manager and have contacted Red Star over the current assistant to Habib Beye.

Bichard would replace Pascal Gastien who has helmed the Clermont project for the last seven years but has seen questions arise over current performances under him. The team have not won outside of a penalty shoot-out in the Coupe de France since the 12th of November, and now sit bottom of the table.

Since a 4-0 defeat to Lille OSC at the start of the month, Clermont have been quietly assessing their options as they search for a profile that could provide a fresh perspective and defined tactical identity to a squad six points from safety. The next manager would arrive not in a desperate act to stay afloat but would be provided time to reshape a team that has stalled in the past season.

They believe that Bicard fits that brief and the club have begun discussions with Red Star over financial compensation for the assistant manager.
