According to The Athletic and confirmed by Foot Mercato, Leny Yoro (18) is en route to a medical with Manchester United. An agreement between Lille OSC and the Premier League side had been reached last week valued at €62 million. However, until recently Yoro had looked set on rejecting Manchester United for Real Madrid.
Yoro had been clear that his preference was a move to the Spanish giants, but the club had not made the defender their priority and their bid of around €20 million was far below what Lille believed the centre-back to be worth
Real Madrid had hoped that they could convince Yoro to wait for them as he had entered the final year of his contract and the pressure would soon mount on Lille to secure a fee for a defender. If Yoro were to keep rejecting other club’s advances then Lille would likely have to eventually settle for the lower bid.
Manchester United persist with Leny Yoro
However, as The Athletic writes Yoro has reportedly “warmed” to the bid and their persistence appears to have put them in pole position to sign the defender, with the defender soon to agree personal terms. Foot Mercato writes that Manchester United have offered Yoro a contract of €9 million per year.
