Manchester City’s João Cancelo to sign for Al-Hilal in €25m deal

Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal are on the verge of signing Manchester City full-back João Cancelo (30), according to a report this Monday from L’Equipe. The Portugal international is set to sign a three-year contract with the Riyadh-based club. Cancelo would join the likes of fellow countryman Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Neymar at Jorge Jesus’ Al-Hilal.

The outlet understands that the Premier League champions are about to reach a €25m agreement with Al-Hilal for the transfer of Cancelo. The latter signed a bumper five-year extension with the Citizens in 2022 but he found himself playing a peripheral role under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola. Cancelo spent the second half of the 2022-2023 campaign on loan at Bayern Munich and was loaned out again to FC Barcelona the following season. Cancelo is set to earn €15m per year in wages alone with Al-Hilal.
