Olympique Lyonnais owner and Eagle Football group chief John Textor is nearing an agreement with Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri over a proposed takeover of the Premier League club, according to The Guardian. The outlet goes as far as saying that a deal is expected to be agreed by the end of the week. Textor is reportedly in Liverpool for further talks with Moshiri. The American billionaire is understood to be confident that arranging a financing deal for the club’s Bramley-Moore dock stadium could allow him to delay completing Everton’s takeover until January. The Toffees would join Lyon, Botafogo and Molenbeek in the Eagle Football group portfolio.
To comply with the Premier League rules, Textor would need to sell his 45% shares in Crystal Palace. Minority shareholders Josh Harris and David Blitzer have reportedly submitted a €117m bid but Textor rejected it. Potential investors have reportedly expressed an interest in buying Textor’s Palace shares.
