Rennes centre-forward Bertug Yildirim (22) is set to sign for Norwich City FC, according to reports from Le Parisien and Ouest-France. The 22-year-old Turkish international has already left Brittany to undergo a medical with the Norfolk side this Wednesday. Yildirim never really made his mark at Stade Rennais on the back of his transfer last summer from Süper Lig outfit Hatayspor. The physical 6′ 1” centre-forward played a peripheral role in Julien Stéphan’s side and only registered one goal, in the Europa League’s group stage, in 15 appearances for Les Bretons.
Stade Rennais and Norwich City FC reportedly agreed on a €5m transfer fee for Yildirim’s switch from the Roazhon Park to Carrow Road, which means Rennes will recoup their losses after acquiring his services for a similar amount. Yildirim was tied to Rennes over a contract set to expire in 2028. The Ligue 1 club, who will kick off their new campaign at home against Olympique Lyonnais this Sunday, have already lined up a replacement with the expected arrival of Sarpsborg’s Henrik Meister (20).
