Nantes to trigger Lyon loanee Johann Lepenant’s purchase option

FC Nantes are set to make Lyon midfielder Johann Lepenant’s move to Les Canaris permanent (21), according to head coach Antoine Kombouaré. In his pre-game press conference, attended by Ouest-France, the 60-year-old manager has stated that Nantes are set to trigger Lepenant’s purchase option. The France U21 midfielder, who clinched a silver medal with Thierry Henry’s Olympic team at the Paris Games, joined Nantes from Olympique Lyonnais on loan this summer. Lepenant perfectly settled to life with Les Canaris, scoring two goals in Nantes’ last two Ligue 1 games.

As a Lyon loanee, Lepenant won’t be able to feature this Sunday with Nantes taking on Les Gones at the Groupama Stadium. “We knew from the start that we were going to keep him”, Kombouaré said this Friday. “We pushed until the last moment to have him play against his parent club, which will soon no longer be because there is a good chance that he will stay with us.” Lepenant’s purchase option reportedly rises to €2.5m. The 21-year-old is therefore expected to sign a four-year deal with Nantes.
